It might seem like bee swarms would be easy to spot, but that isn’t always the case. As a new queen and her entourage are searching for the ideal place to have their colony, they sometimes move around a bit and could even find a place inside your home. There are some ways to know that you need bee swarm removal, however.
One way is to be attentive to the trees on your property. A bee swarm will often hang out on a branch, sometimes even one high up in the tree. When they are lower, you should be able to hear them, but that might not be the case if they are in a taller tree. Keeping watch during swarm season, which is between March and May, is a good idea. They prefer these months as that is when there is more nectar available for them to get started on their honey reserves once they set up their colony. Another way to recognize you need bee swarm removal is if you hear buzzing inside your home. At this point, however, they are starting their colony, so it is unlikely they’ll move elsewhere.
An important note is that there are three things you should never do. You shouldn’t disturb or get too close to the swarm as they will be highly motivated to protect themselves at this point. You also shouldn’t try to remove them yourself for this same reason. And you definitely shouldn’t attempt to kill them with a pesticide. This is usually ineffective and dangerous. Plus, since bees are so important, bee swarm removal is the better course of action.
